Purge welded parts or components have a regulated flow of inert gas in to the area just behind the area that is welded. This purge allows for a smooth weld with no oxidation and 100% strength of the original material. On thin materials when done correctly and proper welding temperature is applied the inside purge weld looks like the outside (Smooth and free of oxidation).
