A single muffler system is
when both LH and RH stack’s come into a common muffler.
This type of system is best for cabin heat and noise reduction.
These systems typically use clamps to hold the muffler into position,
and slip joints or ball joints to avoid premature cracking. They
are typically more expensive then a dual stack system, but are
less than a dual muffler system.
Of all varieties of systems
the single muffler reduces power output the most! They are the
most inefficient in terms of flow due to the scrambling of gasses
in the one muffler.
This type of system has been
the most popular choice of systems for normally aspirated Cessna’s,
Pipers, Champions and Diamond. This is due to its quiet nature
along with unmatched cabin heat. |
